With no other history, the best I can say is that pain from your period or just before is from the production of a chemical called prostaglandin. Anti-proglandins or prostaglndin inhibitors are used to prevent or relieve pain. These include – ibuprofen and naproxen (generic names). Many people start treament just prior to the onset of pain.
