Addison's disease and it's affect on the thyriodFrom: Fhaeger (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 5 Feb 1998 10:10:57 -0600 (CST)
My wife has Addison's disease. She recently found out that she has a 1 inch cyst/growth on her thyriod. Blood test shows low thyriod out put possible Hypothyriod. She is on cortisome for her addison's and has gained about 50+lbs. since she began. could her weight gain and low energy levels be the result of this thyriod condition? She presently gets 9 to 11 hrs. of sleep per night but still complains of fatigue. She is 32yrs.and is menepausal, she is also taking estrogen(the patch)and Florinef. Is it possible that Meds. for the Hypothyriod condition could improve her energy leveland help her with the weight gain problem(she feels fat this is not a problem for me as she looks much better now than when she wasin addrenal crisis)THis new thyriod condition has us alittle concerned obviously. THANKS
