My husband and I have been trying to get preg. for some time now with no luck. My periods have always been very regular but the past 6 mos. I have had about 4 consecutive days of spotting prior to starting my period. The days of spotting are also accompanied by period like symptoms..cramps..etc. My regular period lasts for 6 days. My ob/gyn has done blood work which was normal. An u.s. revealed several small cysts on both ovaries. My next appt. he has mentioned starting me on clomid. My concern is that other tests should be done first. What about checking progesterone? luteal phase defect? Can you suggest any important questions that I should ask him? Also one more question. Could a thyroid defect cause these symptoms? Is the initial blood test accurate for thyroid? (I have had it and it was neg) My mother and maternal grandmother both have a hx of hypothyroidism.
