Hello Anjali - My name is John Robertson, and I am the Canadian Rep for OBGYN.net. Barbara asked me if I could help with your post (please see the snipped post below my signature file). I have not read all the previous posts so I may be missing something, but here is my best long distance advice. There are several possibilities for what you have including vulvovaginitis and vestibulitis. It is very difficult to diagnose which of the possibilities it is without actually seeing the patient. My best advice is to get another opinion from another gynaecologist. You might try asking your family doctor if their is another OBGYN he would reccomend. Alternately you are in a teaching centre, and McMaster has a very good obstetrics and gynaecology residency. You might start with phoning the residency program office and asking for the phone number/address to the Chief Resident's Clinic. This will usually get you access to residents in their final 2 years of training, and just as importantly to their preceptors. This will obviously require a referral from a family doctor to the clinic. Once you have an appointment to the Chief resident's clinic, that should get you "in the loop". If they are unable to help, there is very likely a vulvar diseases clinic attached to the teaching program, if not their should be one at U of T. With respect to the steroid injections, you are right - results are different for different people. I have had great success with steroids in some individuals and absolutely no results with others. I wish you all the best. If I can be of more help, please let me know. John Robertson
