HPVFrom: Joanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Nov 1997 19:00:58 -0500
Hi everyone. I know there are lots of post with this thread, but I couldn't really find the answer to my question. Hope you bear with me, as I'm very confused. I just returned from my gyn visit. It's now 6 months since I had my TAH/BSO for endo. While reviewing my records, my new gyn noticed that I had a colposcopy. The results were listed as (ah geez here my brain goes again, I can't remember the letters, hopefully you'll figure out what they are. As I recall it's something similiar to ASCUS or something like that.) Anyway, she says that it's likely I had/have a virus, possibly HPV. Now I do remember being told, that the colposcopy showed chronic cervicitis, but HPV, was never discussed. She did do a pap smear today, and a swab, I assume for viral testing, but I am wondering about the possibility of HPV. I've been married for 22 years, and neither I nor my husband admit to any extramarrital affairs. So could it really be HPV, and if so, what are the implications, and what is the treatment if any? Joanne
