abnormal menstruation after stopping pillFrom: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Nov 1997 21:01:36 -0600 (CST)
In 6-97 I quit taking Ortho-Cept. I had some "late" periods, but ones that always came about 28 days or later and lasted 5 days or so. Judging from my cycle, I should've started Oct. 22, but I never did. Nov. 6 I got some slight bleeding (about 1/4 tsp.), then quit. Most was brown...did this for about 5 days. Yesterday, I started this again...only this time, my breasts are sore. Hubby and I have only had sex unprotected once...2 nights ago, too early for pregnancy symptoms (??). My question is, what is causing this? I have talked to several people and they said: (ob/gyn nurse) you're not ovulating; breakthrough bleeding is not good; should be checked. (doctor--who is a PCP from old HMO plan--also an endocrinologist) don't worry about it...it's just the pill. I'm confused. One person says get it looked at, other says don't worry. My mom just had a hysterectomy for cervical cancer. My last Pap (in Aug.) was negative. Could this be anything major, or should I do what doc says and wait it out? I haven't had an "actual" bleeding period since Sept. 24! Thanks in advance, Laura
