Endo, fibroids and BCPsFrom: Annette (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 16 Nov 1997 13:41:21 -0600 (CST)
I'm 31 and was diagnosed with endo in May. I had a lap to remove my left ovary and tube due to a large cyst which was engulfing them. I also have three fibroids on my uterus, each of which is larger than the uterus itself. I still have some pain, but it's manageable. I am currently taking Alesse (a low, low dose BCP) to hopefully suppress the endo. I've had two docs recommend Lupron, but I am resisting. I want to wait until I'm desperate before I pursue aggressive treatment like that. My questions: Is the Alesse really doing ANYTHING to suppress the endo? Am I fooling myself? Secondly, am I crazy to refuse treatment until I feel like I NEED treatment? Am I risking my other organs (bladder, kidneys, etc.)? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
