Stress, a cold, a trip, you didn't ovulate that cycle -- lots of things.

I thought I might have been pregnant >and even took 2 hpt which were negative. (Wishful thinking I guess.)

Been there, done that. The waiting's the worst part.

On *average*, a woman ovulates 14 days before she gets her period; in a 28 day cycle that would be day 14, in a 30 day cycle, day 16. There is variability. Are you doing any tests of ovulation (retrospective like BBTs or prospective like ovulation predictor tests?). The "fertile window" encompasses the day of ovulation and the 5 days before.

Normally I've been ovulating between the 12th & 15th day >after a period.

If you have sex every day (if sperm count is ok) or evry-other-day from day 11 -16 you'll probably have it covered.
