Birth control pills can cause an increase in prolactin levels, as can marijuana, other medications like phenothiazines (like Thorazine), hypothyroidism, and pituitary tumors. Increases prolactin may lead to lack of ovulation, whiich in turn can cause you to skip periods. You need to discuss wiht your doctor whether any further testing or follow up is needed.
