Breast tenderness/pain -- PMS or something more?From: Tiara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Oct 1997 22:11:48 -0600 (CST)
I've always had very painful periods due to cramps mostly, partially because of the irregularity of my cycle. For three days now, however, I've been experiencing not only a swelling in my breasts, but almost constant discomfort bordering on pain. I can't predict whether my period will be coming soon, but I'm getting the other PMS symptoms I experience -- stomach cramps, irregularity, etc. However, these symptoms have never lasted more than a day before starting my period. I'm 20 years old, and because of lack of health insurance I have never had an examination by a GYN. (I'll begin my coverage through work next week and I plan to make an appointment, but the female doctor I desire an appointment with is backed up for two to three months) It's been two months since my last period, and I haven't had intercourse in nearly two years. I'm not on any prescription drugs or birth control. The pain in my breasts is getting unbearable to the point of interrupting sleep. I need to know if this is a serious problem, or just my PMS getting the best of me. Any response appreciated. Thank you.
