Mary,

There are occasionally noted areas of paresthesia (numbness or tingling - pins and needles) which occur with no obvious cause.

In your case, it may be pressure from a dislocated disc. Physical therapy should be helpful but if not, an MRI can be done for a diagnosis and to better direct treatment (MRIs can be safely done in pregnancy).
