Complex Endometrial HyperplasiaFrom: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Aug 1997 16:07:47 -0500 (CDT)
I am 33 and have been seeing an RE for 4 months. I recently had a hysteroscopy where they took a polyp out. At first I was pleased thinking that this may solve our IF problems (trying 1.5 years, unexplained IF, 1 miscarriage at 5 weeks 2 months ago). I just got the pathology report and it wasn't very good - here's what it said: Endometrial Biopsies: 1 - Complex endometrial hyperplasia with severe architectural and moderate cytological atypia 2 - Squamous morules 3 - Small fragments of proliferative type endometrium without evidence of endometritis My RE was going to put me on 2 cycles of provera and repeat w/an endometrium biopsy but he talked to the pathology lab today and they recommended I get a D&C right away and have it analyzed. I have setup an appointment w/a gyn oncologist. My questions are: 1. I know this isn't cancer but only a pre-cursor, am I jumping the gun by seeing a gyn oncologist instead of my regular ob/gyn. 2. Is it likely I'll have to have a hysterectomy. I know this would probably be the recommended treatment if future fertility was not a factor. Thanks so much for any info on this, Julie
