Two ectopic pregnancies in the same tube: how come? From: Anneminke (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Aug 1997 15:52:40 -0500 (CDT)
Almost two months ago I had an emergency operation to have my left tube removed because of an ectopic pregnancy. Almost two years ago I also had an ectopic, also in my left tube and we have, until July 5th, always thought that my left tube had already been removed! In the hospital they said that the first time only the part of the tube where the pregnancy had been had been removed and that the rest had been well 'tied up'. What we still don't understand is: 1) Why would a surgeon take only part of the tube out. (It has become 'useless' so why not take the whole tube out)? 2) And how is it possible that in what was left (and 'tied up') another pregnancy could develop?
