Hi Laura,

I am so sorry about your miscarriage. How devastating when you have been trying so long to have a baby.

I am not a Dr. but I have also had a miscarriage (8 years ago). Based on some of the recent discussions on this topic it usually takes 6-8 weeks for periods to resume. I know it is hard to wait for something that is basically out of your control.

As far as your concerns about being given provera and possibly being pregnant, I would suggest you skip another hpt (save the $) and have the Dr. run a serum pregnancy test (since it can detect pregnancy sooner than a urine test) before prescribing the provera. That way you will know for certain and won't have any doubts if, in fact, you need to take the provera.
