Borderline Ovarian TumorFrom: Jane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 23 Aug 1997 11:33:51 -0500 (CDT)
Eight days ago I had a laparotomy performed by my infertility doctor with an Oncologist present when the biopsy came back. The diagnosis was Borderline Ovarian Tumor. Since I have been trying to conceive (I'm 40) they saw no need to remove the ovary. The pathology report just came back my doctor read me the results which were good. The problem is that he used some terminology that just blew by me and I wanted to do research on the net, but, can't find anything. I believe this is misspelled but he said papylari with low malignant potential. Does this make sense? What is a borderline tumor anyway & what does it mean. My IVF Center is now requesting I see the Oncologist and then after they get a note from him they will decide if I can ever do IVF with them again!!!!! I thought this was good news. So why do they need to protect themselves in this manner? Thanks in advance for the information.
