The incidence of poor cervical mucus with Clomid is only about 15% . If it happens, intrauterine insemination is often recommended.

I start with 50 mg cycle days 5-9; if ovulation doesn't happen at that dose (determined by basal body temps, urinary ovulation predictor tests or saliva testing), then I increase to 100mg. If ovulation doesn't occur wiht 150mg then I order some blood work and refer to a reproductive endocrinologist. All of us general ob-gyns have different comfort levels in treating infertility; I have a fairly high level (probably because I'm an infertility PATIENT myself)

He said if it >doesn't work, I will be sent to an infertility specialist.

That's his comfort level. It's very smart to refer rather than do things one is not happy doing.

If your only problem is lack of ovulation then Clomid greatly increases the chances of pregnacy. The problem wiht the cervical muscus is relatively uncommon and easily treated if it does occur.

I am confused. Please help

I know how confusing and frustrating infertility can be, especially since we doctors don't always agree on how to do things. Hang in there, talk to your doctor, ask for a referral to a specialist if you are more comfortable with that, and good luck!
