Heavy Bleeding At 8 weeks PregnancyFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 7 Aug 1997 17:51:40 -0500 (CDT)
My husband and I where on a driving vacation out of state when I was 8 weeks pregnant. Per my OB I made sure to get out of the car about every 2 hrs and walk around. Two days into our trip I got out of the car and had a gush of bright red blood. I immediately went to the ER-the cervix was still closed, lab tests (HCG) came back normal, and an ultrasound showed an 8 week viable pregancy. The bleeding stopped soon after arriving to the ER and I never experienced any cramping. The ER doc and a nurse midwife I followed up with in this town said I probably just had a ruptured cervical blood vessel. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and have not had any other problems similar to this. I have recently had an abnormal pap smear (colposcopy and biopsy showed minor dysplasia) and a year ago I had moderate-severe dysplasia and had the LEEP procedure to remove these cells. Can the abnormal cervical cells and blood vessel hemorrhage cause problems in the pregnancy? this is my first baby and am very anxious that something will go wrong.
