Dr. Radnich,

The midwife called the physician because I demanded it. I would not have been adverse to vaccuum or forceps, but it was never offered to me, and I didn't know to ask! I had never heard of these things being used. I was exhausted, thinking that nothing was happening. However, when I obtained my records from the hospital, the midwife noted that I was moving the baby down with pushing, especially when on the commode. There was no moulding or caput present, and the baby was at a +2 station, albeit OP. I really think that if someone, *anyone*, had told me that I was making progress, that I wouldn't have given up, and I think it was convenient for the OB to just do the section, since he was called in at 12:00 a.m. to check on me. There is no mention of FTP or fetal distress on my chart. In fact, it specifically notes how well the baby was doing with the pit induced contractions. The "official" diagnosis is CPD, which I think negated by the fact that I was at a +2 station when I was sectioned. I think it's really too bad that neither my midwife nor my doctor knew that their words of encouragement, had they been uttered, would probably have meant a much different outcome.
