Why don't you give all of us that like the doctors opinions, and want to > encourage their participation a break!!!!!!!

No one has to have a hysterectomy that doesn't want one but it is an > option.

Maureen,

First let me say, I am so glad for you, that you are doing well, without the hysterectomy. I do not want to start a flame war, but I had to comment. I was suffering from severe endometriosis, and a hysterectomy was advised in my case, by my gyn, 2 PCP's, and the RE I went to for another opinion. Though other treatment options were discussed, no one felt that I would get any long term relief with those options. I am 43, and was showing no signs of perimenopause. I am a member of the Witsendo listserve, a support group for those suffering from endometriosis. This group seems to pretty much discourage hysterectomies, due to the possibility of endo returning, post hyst. I was advised by several on the group, not to have a hysterectomy. The pain was becoming disabling, and as I love my job, I had to do something, my job performance was suffering. I decided to listen to the doctors, and had the hyst. I'm only a few weeks post op, and am feeling great. If endo returns, I doubt it would be to the extent as prior to the hyst. and I doubt it would grow enough to cause a bowel obstruction, which was nearly the case, at the time of surgery. Though a hysterectomy, is not an answer for everyone, I feel it was the right choice for me, and I'm glad I had the option. Though you are entitled to your opinion, I hope the doctors on this forum, do not believe that your opinion is shared by all. I for one, value the information put forth on this forum. I am concerned, that your comments could discourage the doctors to continue to participate in this forum, as did happen on the Witsendo listserve.
