Re: Ovarian Cancer Surgery - Update from 5/14 messageFrom: Joanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 May 1997 09:01:41 -0400
Kathy, I tried to mail this to your personal e-mail address, but it was returned, so I'm posting it to the forum. I read your post, and my heart goes out to you. Everyone is correct in saying that there is hope. I work with a 28 year old girl, who had been complaining of the same symptoms as I was. I had severe endometriosis at the time. I encouraged her to see a RE concerning her symptoms. As she was planning her wedding, I was very concerned about her future fertility. To make a long story short, she underwent a laparoscopy, where a few spots of endometriosis were found, but so was ovarian cancer. She was referred to a gyn oncologist, and underwent a laparotomy and subseguent hysterectomy. She was categorized as a stage III, which didn't sound too promising. But get this!......due to the type of cancer found, even a stage III, the extent of her cancer treatment was the surgery. She will require no further treatment and........NO CHEMO! She is now back to planning her wedding. :-) Good luck to you!!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Joanne in NJ
