Re: Town Meeting site...From: Holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 May 1997 01:03:39 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Ladies, I want to start a new column called HerStory on thw Women's Section of OBGYN.net: http://www.obgyn.net/women/women.htm I think it would be interesting to publish case stories from the women who have lived them. What was the problem, how was it treated, your feelings, the outcome. That sort of thing. Or human interest perspectives of how certain conditions affected your life. Or something you learned that you found particularly helpful. XXX Great idea! I think it would also be fun to hear some of the "lighthearted" things that happen during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Right before my second child was born - C-section - my M.D. asked if I would mind if two nursing students observed the surgery. It would be the first chance for one to observe a C-section. It would be the first chance for the other to see any child born. As he delivered my daughter, both students began to cry. The anesthesiologist looked down and said, "there are two more people who will never forget your daughter's birth." Sure enough, they stopped to visit her every day while I was in the hospital. I want the members of the Women's Health Forum to get involved in the evolution of their website like the doctors did. I think that is why it is so great. Would we want webpages for women like the doctors? See: http://www.obgyn.net/scripts/dbml.dll?template=doc&edit=yes How about a calendar of events? See: http://www.obgyn.net/scripts/dbml.dll?template=calendar What about special Forums like Pregnancy, Endo, Menopause? Medline Access? XXX I like to read about and learn about the many different experiences all on one board. However, it might make it easier for doctors who have a special interest in a particular area, and it might bring added support to women with similar circumstances. I think the calendar is also a good idea. Maybe even a chat room to use for occasional special focus discussions on a particular area of woman's health. The discussion could be hosted by guest moderators for Q&A Or, the guest moderator could help facilitate support groups on various subjects. Women could even volunteer to help the moderator welcome participants to the board. Let's talk about it here on the forum and see what everyone thinks. Regards, Roberta XXX If you do start an e-mail list, please add my name to it. Thanks! Holly
