Re: Ovulation with no periods?From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 29 May 1997 08:17:25 -0400 (EDT)
<<He gave me the option of coming in for blood work to see if I am ovulating, but I feel that I am battling a losing cause. I can only see the Dr. on the base, and if I didn't know better I would think that they are just sticking by one anothers side for rank reasons!>> Why not start with the bloodwork and see what turns up? It seems that with the right communication, they should be able to send you to another US hospital in the region, whether is is AF, Army or Navy. We haven't been stationed in Japan, but I have been known to fly cross-country (at my expense) for medical treatment at Bethesda Naval Hospital. When I was last at Bethesda, other commands had paid for active and dependents to fly in for treatment. Unfortunately, you have to be your own advocate to get the answers you are seeking. Don't let rank scare you, but stay polite and ask lots of questions. A critical question may be for you to request a consult with a Reproductive Endocrinologist, at which point you may have to take a (Space-A?) flight to San Diego (Balboa) or Travis for an RE appointment. Written communication works well. (On my last pregnancy/failure, I received a major exception to policy when I wrote a letter to the CHAMPUS office with copies to my RE and the head of OB/GYN.) Keep pushing, gently, and you'll get what you need. Luanne
