Re: antiphospholipid antibodiesFrom: MO (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 May 1997 00:10:42 -0500 (CDT)
RE 19 May 1997, Harvey S. Marchbein RE 19 May 1997, Kelly Shanahan Thank you both for the information. In fact, the Lupid Anticoagulant was mentioned as if it was a seperate test, so I didn't realize that was also part of APA. 1 Now I know what to ask the doctor to ask the lab. I assume that at least the ones you mention as significant should be offered (if not the full 16).Is that right? In other words... 2 ...Am I right that if the previous test for APA was only negative, that I should get one that has specifics or ask the lab to clarify if they have data on previous test? 3 Here in Japan mainly IviG (?) is used for miscarriage but not so much for infertility. I understand that depending on result of APA and other tests, I may need IViG (also other things like Heparin) here in pareparation for IVF in the States. I also hear that IviG for infertility is as a transfusion. Is it same for miscarriage? In other words, if I get US infertility doctor's explanation, is this something that Japanese hospital administering for miscarriage can understand and probably comply with. I have one doctor here who is cooperative (rare for Japan), but I want to check before I burden him with many requests. If anyone knows other Japanese referral, that would be helpful. 4 One IVF doctor said that I don't need donor egg but as I said, I only need to come to US IF I do donor egg because here there is no possibility (not done, only donor sperm). I understand that immune problem affects implnatation and so that if I have slightest doubt about own egg quality and have a good egg donor, that is extra insurance and in no way compromises the immune treatment. I ask beacause it took months to procure this donor (very hard to find) and I don't want to risk failure again by just treating immune problem (I have been told at age 37 my own eggs are not good quality by number of cells, etc. Is this reasonable? Once again, thanks for the help and excuse my asking more questions. It is so nice to find a topic where we can share information like this! Easier than calling the US at 3 in the morning just for informational questions!!
