Lynn,

One solution is to go out and buy over the counter Monistat or Terazol every time you feel you have a yeast infection. this will clear it up 80% of the time.

Another option is to ask for a script for Diflucan 150mg and get them to OK about 11 or 12 refills.

If these measures do no work, then it may NOT be a yeast infection..but it's hard to say for sure over the net!

One thing to know is that the Yeast organism lives primarily in your intestinal tract. In order to reduce the population of Yeast organisms (and other potentially harmful bacteria as well) get enough FIBER in your diet. Everyone says they eat lots of fruit, vetgetables, and bran, BUT...take the plunge and go out and buy some KONSYL. It has 3 times the fiber content of metamucil. People need a total of 25-30 grams a day of soluble and insoluble fiber. Take it religiously every day for 3 months. Then let's hear back from you if you're no better.

Chronic Urinary tract infections can have many underlying causes, but I always say that if you have more than 3 a year and all your efforts can't correct the problem...go see a urologist.

best of luck,

Doug Krell MD
