Often this kind of problem is a associated with a mixed bacterial overgrowth called "bacterial vaginosis". Sometimes it is reported on culture as Normal vaginal flora and may be missed. Usually there is a white thin watery discharge that may be light, it is not always a heavy discharge.

see above. Another thing to test is the pH balance of the vagina. If it is elevated, this may be a clue for bacterial vaginosis.

Are you using anything vaginal for contraception? Could it be the semen that you are noticing? How long after intercourse do you perceive the odor?

Perhaps you should try a medicated douching preparation prior to and after intercourse. Or conversely, just try a course of Flagyl antibiotic, and see if it goes away.

Just work closely with your doctor and remember the old saying that if at first you don't succeed....

good luck,
