Several studies have shown that women who are emotionally prepared for a hysterectomy do much better in the long term. You are doing the right thing and asking the right questions.

About anesthesia, actually an epidural would probably be better than a spinal, because its duration can be adjusted more easily. Actually, recovery times, though, are pretty similar.
