Thanks! Hi Kristi, Welcome back t the forum. 40 weeks from the last menstrual period was a determination that was made BEFORE the nature and timing of ovulation was known with respect to regular vs. irregular cycles, etc. We all know that 40 weeks of pregnancy is 38 weeks from ovulation. This is known and accepted by all professionals. Sonograms are also interpreted with this in mind. Cool the way the fundal height is approximately equivalent to the number of weeks, huh! Pregnant women acan sleepany way they want. Optimum position for resting is on the left side because that will get the uterus of the aorta and maximize blood flow to the uterus. When you sleep, you change positions 60-80 times a night. The only way to sleep on your left side (which would be rather uncomfortable long term) would be to wedge pillows front and back. Yuck! Be well and stay well.
