Thanks Anne Nash Anne I for one do not think you are in the least bit loony. I think there is a strong mind-body connection that can tell us a lot if we can only learn to listen to it. Your body may well be telling you that you have recurrent adhesions. The reason I KNOW you are not a nut case is because I have experienced the same thing -- when I was 11 I ruptured my spleen in an accident; after the original surgery I developed bad adhesions and bowel obstructions and had to have a second surgery a few months later, and then a third hospitalization a year later.. Every time I had a bowel obstruction I had a dream about rolling a huge boulder up hill; that was my clue I was going to be seeing my surgeon again real soon. I haven't had that dream -- or a bowel obstruction -- since college.
