Carolyn A small percentage (about 10%) of women will experience menstrual changes (irregularity, more cramping or bleeding, more PMS-type symptoms) after a tubal ligation. You didn't mention your age, but you may be starting to enter menopause -- perhaps early, perhaps at the average age. The stage before actual menopause -- we call it "perimenopause" -- can last for several years and one can experience symptoms very much like the ones you describe. I suggest you see your doctor again and express your concerns.
