Is Sodium Bicarbate Safe to Use?

Salutations!

I have been suffering from a bladder infection and I'm on amoxicillin. I was reading in my trusty-dusty Merck Manual that sodium bicarbonate 1/2 tsp in a 1/2 glass of water every 3 to 4 hours may relieve symptoms. Well, it works very well!!! I've only been using it 2 x's a day.

I was told I have vulvar vestibulitis. Someone mentioned that since I'm almost 50 and approaching menopause, that my urine could be on the acid side. I have urinary leakage as well. I think the bicarboante helped this, too; I've been going nutty with the constant burning for the last six to eight months.

My question is: could there be any undesirable side-effects from taking this remedy once or twice daily over time?

Thanks for your help--

I hope everyone who is going to the convention has a safe trip and a good time. Bring me back a T-shirt.

God bless all and goodnight!

Kathy
