Re: Roberta's post concerning David LettermanFrom: Cherae (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 25 Apr 1997 13:27:40 -0500 (CDT)
Joanne and Roberta- Thanks for bringing this topic to light! I don't understand why a person would want to have a child at 60 or older. It seems that should be the time to relax and kick-it with the grandchildren, who you spoil and send home for the parents to take care of. It also seems to me, that if there was a cut off date, of 55, that the docters would be VERY careful to make sure of the age. What about malpractice suits? Sad thing is that the child will have some very serious mental issues to deal with when he/she grows up. Didn't she think about the child? Can you imagine having a Mom and Dad, who when you are going to college, is in a nursing home? Does anyone know who has been taking care of the child and did she breast feed him/her? About Tony Randall, I think that society accepts more readily, if the man is older than the women. I think that society wouldn't deal well with a 78 year old mom and a 28 year old dad. Maybe it is a double standard but it is a unwritten standard. Thanks to you all! Cherae Clark (cdclark@ewu.edu)
