Its called: "Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome FAQ" http://prairie.lakes.com/~roseleaf/fibro/sex-faq.html The article contains a good bit of information and tips. Its quite a lot to read through but well worth the effort. I have this condition and my vaginal area does not always appear inflammed. I have had soreness and burning well up into the vagina, sometimes only around the opening, sometimes the labia and clitoris are involved. I have had urethral and bladder involvement as well. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what is affected or when. I hope this helps. I wear only cotton underwear that I wash in Dreft, nothing harsher, and I don't use bleach. I use toilet paper dipped in distilled water after each voiding, as residual urine seems to burn, dry toilet paper can kill, and chlorinated water stings unbelievably. Going without drawers at night sometimes helps, but that can lead to other --er-- problems. Again --welcome to the forum Kathy
