You can't have a hysterectomy and have uterine prolapse afterwards because the uterus is removed. If you mean vaginal prolapse or vaginal vault prolapse or cystocele and/or rectocele, *that* can occur after a hysterectomy. If any of these conditions do exist, a pessary (rubberized or plastic ring...similar to a diaphragm in certain types) may be helpful. If this is not to Mom's liking, a surgical procedure (unfortunately) can be done to correct the prolapse. This should be discussed with someone familiar with vault repairs after hysterectomy.
