Hi Loriann,

First of all, my sympathies on your miscarriage. It must have been a very rough time for you. I'm sure the wonderful doctors on this forum will be able to give you more information, but I thought I'd share with you what I was able to find until they are able to answer your questions. A blighted ovum is a fertilized egg that stops developing at an early stage. Since each egg is separate and unique, I wouldn't think that this is a problem that is likely to recurr just because it happened once. At the same time, increased age (at least gynecologically speaking!) increases the risks of any pregnancy, so your chances may be slightly greater than someone else. I wish I knew more! I did a quick internet search this morning, but wasn't able to find much.

Congratulations on your second pregnancy...I hope that all goes well and that you'll be mommy to a healthy, happy baby in 8 months!

Darcy
