In pregnancy, fluid retention causes this compression. Since it is normal for women to retain some fluids during pregnancy, it is unlikely that you will avoid recurrence of your symptoms. Even with dedicated wearing of wrist splints, you are still likely to have recurrence. Have you considered having the surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome? That seems to be your best bet for avoiding recurrence in pregnancy. Good luck.
