Just a point of clarification: A total hysterectomy means that the total uterus has been removed. This can be done with the ovaries left in place or with them removed. A subtotal or partial hysterectomy (seldom but still occasionally done for medical reasons) means that the cervix is still left in the patient. Removal of the ovaries is an Oophorectomy(unilateral or bilateral denotes whether one or both)
