Re: Hyst with prophylactic oophorectomy; Dr BraunFrom: Judi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 18 Apr 1997 21:47:27 -0500 (CDT)
Those who have a family history of relatives with any combination of breast, ovary, and colon cancer > R.Daniel Braun, MD > I will soon be having a hyst for adenomyosis. I'm 32 Both family Dr and Gyn feel that I should leave my ovaries in and while I agree in that I definitely do not want to start menopause....I have reservations about leaving them in. I lost my father to widespread met adenocarcinoma- primary colon, several of his aunts died from same. His cousin has ductal breast ca. So far no one in my generation has been affected but after reading about Lynch II, I have concerns. I posted a few times late last month concerning having peritoneal cysts removed (Benign mesothelial containing serous fluid) I do trust my Drs', but this is a difficult decision. Do you know where I could find the type of info such as was presented? Are there specific tests I should request from time to time? Be assured that I am not asking you to second guess. I just want to gather as much info as possible to make an informed decision with my doctor. Thank you for your time
