Dear Janis, At age 50 (close to your age), I had a complete Hysterectomy..I took Estergen and progeterine for a couple of months and then due to a death in the family I found I had forgotten to take any for several months...I felt fine so I never took them again (sorry docs), I never had a problem that I knew of...I remarried, never suffered vaginal dryness, or any other problems related to hysterectomy. I must add, I had already completed menopause prior to my surgery... I am writing to you to say,,,That life after hysterectomy is, or im most cases just Fine... Good luck with your decision and try Not to be afraid...
