Existance of FibroidsFrom: C. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 Apr 1997 18:12:34 -0500 (CDT)
Four weeks before I got pregnant, I had my annual pelvic exam and asked my gyn to look for fibroids, since my sister had a very large one recently removed. The doctor said my uterus was very small, and she did not feel any fibroids or abnormalities. At 8 weeks into the pregnancy, I was examined again, but no mention of fibroids. At 11 weeks I had some bleeding, and an 8 cm fibroid was found by ultrasound. Does this mean that the fibroid is new, and grew to 8 cm in 15 weeks? I was told by my ob/gyn that fibroids don't usually grow during pregnancy, and I should not be concerned. I am very concerned about the possiblity of a fast growing fibroid since my mother died of endometrial cancer last year.
