abdominal pain

HELP!! For the last three years I have had (off and on) excruciating abdominal pain four (never more, never less) days before my period. The initial "attack" consists of severe abdominal cramps happening quite suddenly and quickly escalating to the point where I'm in so much pain that I'm reduced to falling down wherever I am, screaming in pain, breaking out in a cold sweat all over my body, and feeling as though I'm going to vomit. This lasts about half an hour, at which time the pain subsides enough to enable me to function (although walking with great difficulty, all stooped over for the next three days). I live in a very remote area where we have a new doctor every month or so. Everytime I go to the doctor it is someone new. Since I previously (in 1985) had an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit removed, the diagnosis always seems to be an ovarian cyst. I constantly go for ultrasounds to find that I have a small cyst on my remaining ovary. I've been told a) I probably had a larger cyst which ruptured, or b) the pain I'm feeling is when the egg passes through the ovary. I've lately begun to doubt both theories. What are the odds I'd have an ovarian cyst rupture on me eight times in the last three years EXACTLY FOUR DAYS BEFORE MY PERIOD? Is it possible that I have a small ovarian cyst and it is in no way causing me any problems? Could my symptoms be caused by something else? After the initial "attack" I'm still in pain but able to function (somewhat), but it really hurts to pass gas and my stomach feels like it's on fire. When my period starts, everything is fine again. THREE YEARS IS A LONG TIME!!!
