Irregular, or even almost continuous, bleeding is a well know -- and very annoying -- side effect of DepoProvera. It's the number one reason women stop using the Depo. A short course of estrogen or birth control pills is often effective in stopping the annoying bleeding. The IUD is as effective, and in the right group of women it's a wonderful form of contraception. All forms of birth control, and pregnancy itself, have their own risks, benefits and side effects. Talk to you doctor about your options.
