I was really >surprised and disappointed, becase that practice seems contradictory to >everything I've been reading about pregancy. In fact she didn't even >offer to have the nurse call in a prescription for prenatal vitamins. I >really like him, he's young (5 yrs out of resisdency), and very gentle) >but I already feel like we're not on the same wavelength in regards to >pregnancy. I am thinking about finding a new doctor. Do you think I'm >being too harsh? > Opinions from MDs especially welcolm here. I believe that pre-conceptional counseling is an invaluable and underutilized encounter. It provides the opportunity for identification of medical conditions, reproductive difficulties, genetic disorders, medication hazards, nutritional status, and social factors (ie smoking, domestic violence). Please insist on this appointment and have your OB-GYN review ACOG's Technical Bulletin Number 205 from May 1995 on Preconceptional Care
