I, personally, have never heard of the term *exocervicitis* in the past 22 years I've been doing ob-gyn. If we take the word apart *exo* means outside. So exocervicitis probably means an inflammation of the outside of the cervix. This is very common, has multiple causes, some known and some not. I'm curious as to why the biopsy was done in the first place. Was there an abnormal pap? Was a colposcopy done? Was this the result of a colposcopically directed biopsy? What other findings were noted on the cervix, both to the naked eye and unddr magnification? Unfortunately, the biopsy result gives only a partial picture. Good luck with this. -- Harvey S.
