|For the last six months (after having a single episode of unprotected

|countless rounds of Monistat and 2 treatments of diflucan did nothing to
|improve my symptoms. I was referred to a gyn who diagnosed it as an
|overgrowth of bacteria and treated it with a 7 day round of antibiotics
|(flagyl). Again, no solution. Over the last month, however, I've been
|experiencing increasing abdominal pain on my lower left side and my
|abdomen has been swollen and tender the entire time. There is obviously
|something wrong but my doctors just keep trying to treat the external
|symptoms. I've had no blood work done, only urine specimens. I know
|they've checked for all the standard STD's (Gon., chylm., etc.), but I am
|curious now about PID. I'm really afraid and concerned and don't know
|who to see next. Should I request a sonogram? Is this a common problem
|among other women? I don't even know what I'm facing. Cysts, cancer,
|other infections... neither of my doctors have showed much interest in
|pursing this any further, but I'm in pain!

|Any suggestions?
|Thanks.
|Alison
