Heavy periodFrom: Cathleen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 18 Mar 1997 10:12:39 -0600 (CST)
I am 49 years old and had such a heavy period last night, I was soaking a superplus tampon and pad every 5-10 minutes, with large clots. This lasted about 2 hours, and prompted my to call the ER. My last period was in May last year, and I have just begun HRT three weeks ago. At that time I had a normal papsmear. I am taking .625 mg premarin, and 2.5 mg medroxyprogesterone daily. My questions are: Is this something to be concerned about? Had this not happened while I was 10 feet from a bathroom, I would have been in deep trouble. When I had my period in MAy I was in the hospital for the removal of an Acoustic Neuroma, so wasn't always aware, but do know it seemed heavy also. Second question: I am taking the HRT daily, with no breaks, which is different than some of my friends. Any comments? Thanks, CC
