Yes Jennifer the test can be inaccurate, especially if the results are negative. In most medical tests false negatives are more common than false positives.

The hormone the test is looking for (the name escsapes me at this time) becomes more consentrated as the pregnancy progresses. Howerver these tests are pretty reliable.

You can repeat the test in one week or you could make an appointment with your OB/GYN for more accurate testing.
