Marie,It must be very frustrating for you.Have you had a normal pap smear and a normal gonorrhea and chlamydia test? If the Metronidazole is not working ,there are other treatments such as Cleocin vaginal cream.You might ask your health care provider about that treatment.If the treatment doesn't work ,there may be a different diagnosis.I am sure you have had a test called a wet mount, but if not, that needs to be done. Also,douching is not recommended.Also, we do a vaginal Ph as part of the assessment.Partner treatment is currently not recommende however in the past it was commonly recommended.JoAnn NP
