UROGYNECOLOGY: Painful Urination -- Not a UTI or other infection?From: Cheri (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Jul 2009 14:35:54 -0500 (CDT)
About 10 days ago I contracted the classic symptoms of a UTI. I attempted to treat it with cranberry capsules and azo (which had a "bonus" OTC test strip in it which turned purple for leukocytes in an instant but nothing for the nitrates) but it has gotten progressively worse. I went to see a doctor and was told that I tested negative for a UTI. They also did an STD screening which was negative as well. At that point I even thought I could be crazy and the doctor sent me on my way. Today the pain is almost unbearable. I can't walk completely upright, I pee a little while walking sometimes because it burns so much I lose control of the muscle that holds it in, i'm so physically exhausted I can barely stay awake during the day and i'm a person that usually wakes up and runs every morning. I do have a history of endometriosis. What should I do next? I know it's not an infection but I can't take this pain and fatigue anymore. Thank you!
