MENOPAUSE: Menopause/Birth control?From: Chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 16 Jun 2009 13:43:18 -0500 (CDT)
I am 44 I have not been having regular menstrual for the last year. I would have my period and then not have one for two months. I had scar tissue removed from my uterus, ovaries, vagina. One ovary was twisted and hung up and had a cyst. After the surgery it was 5 months before I had a period. It has now been another 4 months and still no period. My doctor wants me to take Medroxypr to help me start my period then put me on Loestrin 24 Fe birth control to prevent uterine cancer. I have absolutely no vaginal dryness. Is taking birthcontrol for that when not dry still necessary? I have been trying to conceive for 6 years but no luck. I'm not trying anymore because of my age. I am also having trouble with not wanting to have sex at all. And when I do It is not very pleasurable. It is like a chore to me. He put me on Testred 10mg to see if that would help. I am really scared of taking hormones. I heard they will give you cancer and cause weight gain and hair growth and deep voice. I am also a type 2 diabetic. I would like another opinion but am a full time student and have no way to pay for a second opinion.
