SEXUALABUSE: Just a question

I was reading in the archives that a woman should inform her doctor if she has been sexually abused in the past. I'm wondering what this has to do with her current care. If she has already been to counseling, but prefers not to talk about it, how would this information be beneficial to her physician and her?
